ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND SPECIAL GENERAL MEETINGS
- In every year a general meeting of the Institute shall be held at such time and place as may be fixed by the Council but not later than 30th September provided however, that the Council may, if it deems necessary, fix such a meeting at a time later than 30th September, but not later than 30th November.
- Thirty days notice of the Annual Conference and fourteen clear days of all Special General Meetings shall be given to all Members, specifying the date, hour and place of meeting and the business to be transacted at such meetings.
QUORUM
- The quorum for Annual Conference and for Special General Meetings shall be 5. If within half an hour from the time appointed for holding the Annual Conference or the Special General Meeting a quorum is not present, the meeting is called upon the requisition of members, shall stand dissolved. In any other case, the meeting shall stand adjourned for thirty minutes on the same day and same place. If at the adjourned meeting also, a quorum is not present within half an hour from the time appointed for holding the meeting, the members present shall be a quorum.
- The ordinary business of an Annual Conference shall be:
- To receive and consider the Annual Report and audited accounts of the Institute, in which shall be incorporated the reports of the Board of Education and Publication Committee and any other Special Committees appointed with instructions to report to the Annual Conference.
- To announce the election of Fellows and Associates
- To appoint Auditor or Auditors and fix their remuneration
- Any other business that may be duly brought forward.
- The Council may, whenever they think fit, and shall within thirty days after the receipt of a requisition in writing signed by or on behalf of not less than twenty-five Members entitled to vote at the Meetings of the Institute convene a Special General Meeting of the Institute.
- At every General Meeting the President, or in his absence, a Deputy President shall preside. In the absence of the President and Deputy Presidents, the Chairman shall be elected from amongst the Members of the Council present.
- All the Members of the Institute, Members of the Council, Board of Education and the Publications Committee, and past Presidents of the Institute shall be entitled to attend all Meetings of the Institute and take part in the discussion. The voting shall be restricted to all the Members of the Institute as provided in the regulations.
- Voting shall be by the show of hands and in the event of equality of votes; the Chairman shall have a casting vote in addition to his own vote.
The voting Members can demand a poll immediately after the declaration of the result of voting on a show of hands. The Chairman shall regulate the procedure to be adopted for the poll.
SUSPENSION, EXPULSION, RESIGNATION AND RE-ADMISSION OF FELLOWS AND ASSOCIATES
- The Council may appoint from among the Fellows of the Institute a Disciplinary Committee, consisting of not less than seven members, for the purpose of investigating questions of professional malpractices generally, and cases of alleged misconduct of Fellows and Associates of the Institute.
- The Disciplinary Committee shall investigate all cases of alleged misconduct and professional malpractices brought to its notice and shall submit its findings to the Council after giving reasonable opportunity to the Fellow or Associate concerned to explain his case in person or in writing.
The Council shall consider the report of the Disciplinary Committee and take suitable action, as it may deem proper including expulsion of the Fellow or Associate concerned. The decision of the Council shall be by a majority of not less than three-fourths of the Members present at a Meeting convened for the purpose and such decision shall be final and binding and shall not be called in question.
- A fellow or an Associate shall cease to be a Fellow or an Associate if he:
- is adjudicated insolvent;
- ceases to be Member of an Associated Institute;
- resigns and/or;
- is expelled according to Regulation 51;
- fails to pay the Fellowship or Associateship fees to the Institute within three months after it has fallen due, provided however, that he
had been called upon in writing to pay the same (unless a further time is granted by the Council).
Names of the Fellows or Associates who cease to be Fellows or Associates who cease to be Fellows or Associates either by death or by the operation of the Regulations referred to above shall be published in the Journals of the Institute.
Persons who cease to be Fellows and Associates shall surrender their certificates or diplomas to the Institute.
- Any person having ceased to be a Fellow or an Associate under Regulation 52 above applied for re-admission shall not be required to pass any examination of the Institute. The Council may consider such applications and may re-admit the applicant to the original class as the Council may think fit.
CEASING OF MEMBERSHIP
- A member of the Institute shall cease to be a member if he:
- resigns;
- is adjudicated insolvent;
- fails to pay the subscription within three months after it has fallen due (unless a further time or exemption is granted by the Council);
- ceases to be associated to the Institute (in case of Institute Members);
- dies (in case of an individual);
No person ceasing to be member shall have any interest in or claim against the funds or property of the Institute.
BOOKS, CERTIFICATES & FORMS
Minutes shall be made in proper books of all resolutions and proceedings of General Meetings of the Institute, meetings of the Council, meetings of the Committees and of Board of Education; and every minute signed by the Chairman of the Meeting to which it relates, or by the Chairman of subsequent Meeting, shall be sufficient evidence of the facts therein stated.
